Version 9.2.8 is supported for use with OS X 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11.

Please note that SAV is only considered to be a supported application when run on a supported operating system as documented in the officially supported software platforms list.

If you have intentionally installed software that Sophos classifies as “adware” or PUAs running the scanner in this mode may remove the software.

To avoid this: Note coming end of support for OS X 10.6 and 10.7: As of October 31st, 2015, Sophos will no longer support Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7.

Please uninstall any existing antivirus applications prior to attempting the installation of Sophos AV for Linux.

The Sophos Antivirus installer for Linux does not include a feature that will detect and remove other anti-virus software that may be installed on the target system.The Uof R has licensed Sophos Antivirus for Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/7/10, and OS X systems (10.6 and above) to be available for use on University owned equipment, including Evergreen machines, Evergreen opt-out equipment, machines purchased with APEA funds or any other Windows or Macintosh systems purchased with University funds.It is assumed that Sophos will continue to run on Windows systems prior to XP SP3 but this has not been tested.All requests for support should be initially directed to the Computing Services IT Support Centre (ITSC).If they cannot answer your SAV questions they will escalate the issue to the appropriate support staff. Type the same on you use to unlock system preferences panels etc. Common causes are a proxy or similiar scanning the internet traffic.
